AbstractThis paper compares two parameter estimation methods for texture modeling, based on linear filters exited by white noise, and their usefulness in attribute extraction. The two methods estimate AR2D filter parameters from a texture image. One method uses 2D data (lines or columns and ACF2D) concatenated into a one-dimensional time series, an AR estimator and the mapping of 1D parameters into 2D space. The other method estimates the AR2D parameters directly from 2D data. A comparison between these methods in application to synthetic data was performed and white noise resultant from the inverse filter process was analyzed.
